Some Do’s and Don’ts at Bridge
Each evening there is a Tournament Director (TD) and
Scorer. The TD is there to help you and to
make the evening
run smoothly. Please do not be afraid to
ask for the TD when you need help.

1. Please be polite to your partner and the opponents. 2. If you are thinking of bidding; Please think first, then pick out the bid from the box. Be careful not to fumble around with your bidding box and then pass. 3. When using a Stop-Bid, it should remain on the table for around 10 seconds to allow the left-hand opponent (LHO) time to consider any options. LHO should take no action during this period. 4. Please leave the bidding cards on the table until the opening lead is made. 5. The board in play should remain on the table in the correct direction. 6. Declarer should avoid touching Dummy’s cards, by asking partner to play the card. 7. When things go wrong, please call the director (In a manner which will not cause offence) please don’t make your own rulings; If you are in any doubt at all, no matter how minor or if you have some disagreement with your opponents, then please call the Director. 8. Hesitations are sometimes inevitable and depending on the situation, may be acceptable. The Director is the best person to resolve any issues. 9. Check each score with your opponents. N/S allow E/W to confirm the Bridgemate score. 10. Shuffle your cards before returning them to the board. 11. Above all, please try to be pleasant and courteous. We all come to the club for relaxation and to have an enjoyable evening. |
