Face-to-Face Bridge - What we have done

  • Checked the rooms are clean and ready for play.
  • Checked the boards, bidding boxes and bridgemates are clean and ready for play.
  • Decided which tables should be used to enable distancing between tables in play.
  • Decided that windows and doors are to be open before and during play whenever possible.
  • Purchased air purifiers, CO2 monitor, hand sanitisers, gloves, masks and wipes.
  • Set up a booking system for members for each session.
  • Agreed that there will be no catering at the moment. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments.
  • Agreed that scores will only be by email and not shown on monitors at the club.

NEW from 10/12/21: Requirement to Wear a Face Mask

PLEASE NOTE: From Friday 10th December 2021 (and until further notice), in accordance with new government guidelines under 'Plan B', the wearing of face masks will be compulsory (unless exempt for medical reasons) for anyone attending any face-to-face bridge club events, including anyone visiting the Moor Allerton Sports & Social Centre (MASSC) - the centre in which the bridge club is located.

As a result of negative feedback from the above, we have decided to suspend all face-to-face sessions at the club for the rest of this year, with Monday morning Chicago and Wednesday afternoon Gentle Bridge moving online to the Real Bridge palatform from week beginning 13th December.

Face-to-Face Bridge - What we ask of you

  • Book a session in good time and and please understand that you will not be able to play if by  any chance you are told that session is full, or is not viable due to insufficient bookings.
  • Ensure that you are fully vaccinated against Covid, including any recommended booster jabs.
  • Cancel any booking you have made if you fell at all unwell or have been in contact with anyone having, or showing symptoms of, Covid.
  • Cancel any booking if you have had a positive lateral flow or PCR test or should be isolating.
  • We would prefer you to cancel if you live with and have been in contact with anyone having received a positive Covid test.
  • Bring any refreshments required for yourself during the evening.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your session.
  • Unless medically exempted, from Friday 10th December 2021 it is a legal requirement to wear a face mask when attending any bridge club event or when visiting the Moor Allerton Sports & Social Centre for any reason.
  • Coats may be left in the cloakroom or kept with you.
  • Sanitise your hands on arrival.
  • Take your seat at a table immediately and stay there.
  • Do not go from table to table greeting old friends - sorry.
  • You should only touch your own bidding box. Take your bidding box with you from table to table - bring your own if you have one (and don't forget to take it away with you at the end!).
  • Only North touches the bridgemate once it’s on the table. Agree scores verbally with E/W.
  • As far as possible only North touches the boards in play - though you need to get your own cards out.
  • Please sanitise your hands regularly, especially after blowing your nose, touching your face or visiting the toilet.
  • Please do not share any refreshments other than with someone in your own bubble.
  • Everyone please stay seated until movement called then all move to next table.
  • At the end of the session please leave the club promptly and efficiently, observing social distancing measures as far as possible
  • Please do not congregate round the computer waiting for scores. These will only be sent out by email.
  • Please inform us if by any chance you have recently played at our club and are then diagnosed with Covid. We will inform those who have been at the same session.
